We invited a local moth enthusiast to come to Capen Garden and show us how to attract moths for observation. We hung a white sheet from an outbuilding. He brought a mercury vapor light and a black light and a very nice camera that captured the moths that showed up. He was able to identify most of them for us. He has seen and photographed hundreds of moths. On this night he saw one he had not seen before. It was an Ironweed borer.  We have a good amount of ironweed in this garden so it made perfect sense.
